Paula Deen Heavenly Milkshake

Paula Deen Heavenly Milkshake takes 5 minutes and three ingredients, frozen yogurt, almond milk and honey, to make a thick, creamy blended drink. Save this easy light milkshake for cookouts, game day or a quick weeknight treat, because it's no-cook, kid-friendly and ready in one blender.

Blend it until it's completely smooth, then pour it right away. Once it sits, the frozen yogurt melts into the almond milk and you lose that thick, frosty body.

Paula uses nonfat frozen yogurt and almond milk instead of ice cream and whole milk, so the shake stays light but still tastes sweet. A little honey rounds out the tang of the yogurt without needing any sugar.

Frozen yogurt, almond milk and honey whirl together into a frosty, spoonable shake with a mild tang. It comes together in one blender and has to be served the moment it's blended.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups nonfat frozen yogurt

  • 1 1/4 cup almond milk

  • 2 teaspoons honey

Directions

  • Add the ingredients: Add 2 cups nonfat frozen yogurt, 1 1/4 cups almond milk and 2 teaspoons honey to a blender. Spoon the frozen yogurt in last so the liquid sits at the bottom and the blades catch right away.
  • Blend until smooth: Blend the mixture until it's completely smooth and no frozen chunks are left. If it looks too thick to move, stop and stir once, then blend again.
  • Serve right away: Pour the milkshake into 4 glasses and serve immediately. Then add a straw to each one while the shake is still thick and cold.

FAQs

Can I use regular ice cream instead of frozen yogurt?

Yes, vanilla ice cream works in the same amount, though the shake will taste richer and sweeter. If you do swap, you may want to skip the honey, since ice cream already brings plenty of sugar.

Can I make this milkshake ahead of time?

It's best blended and served right away, because it melts and thins out quickly. If you want to get ahead, measure the almond milk and honey into the blender and keep the frozen yogurt in the freezer until the last minute.

What can I use instead of almond milk?

Any milk you like will work, including whole milk, 2% or oat milk. Whole milk makes the creamiest shake, while a plant milk keeps it lighter and dairy-light.

Can I store leftover milkshake in the freezer?

I wouldn't count on it, since it freezes into an icy block that loses the smooth texture. If you have extra, pour it into a popsicle mold instead and enjoy it as a frozen treat.

How do I make the milkshake thicker?

Use a little less almond milk, or add another half cup of frozen yogurt before blending. Make sure the yogurt is straight from the freezer, because softened yogurt gives you a thinner shake.
